Admissions
Project Forward Leap strives to bring excellence to the academic and social aspects of our students. We generally seek to have a 50/50 gender ratio enrolled each year in our program so as to provide equal opportunities to our male and female applicants. Our socio-economic percentage is geared highly towards African American students but encompasses Hispanic, Asian, Caucasian and other races as well. Each year, we enroll anywhere between 80 and 100 students into our Full Year Program which encompasses both the residential aspect as well as the school year. We have recently added a School Year Only Program as a means to reach more students with educational assistance.
Regrettably, Project Forward Leap can only accept a fraction of the many worthy students who apply. While the selection process is based on several criteria, we recognize that this process cannot completely reflect the applicant’s abilities or achievements. Nomination by teachers and counselors should itself be a source of pride for students and their families. Furthermore, while we strongly believe that “All Students Can Achieve!” Project Forward Leap, unfortunately, does not have the resources to adequately address the needs of students with severe learning disabilities, or emotional or disciplinary problems.
